2012 Nissan Versa Sedan

Exterior Features
The 2012 Nissan Versa is a compact sedan and hatchback offered in three different trim levels. Fifteen-inch steel wheels are standard,with larger wheels available on higher grades.

Interior Features
The 2012 Nissan Versa offers seating for 5 passengers. Base Versa models are configured with suede-tricot (cloth) upholstery,air conditioning,height-adjustable driver's seat,trip computer,2-speaker audio system,and more. Higher trim levels are fitted with upgraded upholstery,alloy wheels,fog lamps,and other premium equipment.

Optional Features
Option packages available on the 2012 Nissan Versa include a leather-wrapped steering wheel,navigation system,Bluetooth phone connectivity,keyless entry,and cruise control.

Under the Hood
Nissan Versa models are fitted with one of two engines. The new sedan features a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine rated at 109 horsepower. The standard gearbox is a 5-speed manual,with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) optional. The standard power plant in the hatchback is a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder rated at 122 horsepower. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission,a 4-speed automatic transmission,or a CVT,depending on trim level. Front-wheel drive is standard on both sedan and hatchback.

Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Nissan Versa are:
  • Nissan Versa sedan with 1.6-liter engine and CVT: 30/38 mpg (city/highway)
  • Nissan Versa hatchback with 1.8-liter engine and CVT: 24/32 mpg (city/highway)

Safety
Standard safety features of note on the 2012 Nissan Versa include side curtain air bags for both rows and stability control. In government crash tests,the 2012 Nissan Versa hatchback received a rating of 3 (out of 5) stars for frontal crash protection,according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA),but was not assigned an overall rating. In tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS),the Versa hatchback received a “Good” rating—the Institute’s highest—for frontal-offset crashes,and an ""Acceptable"" rating for side-impact crashes. The Versa hatchback also earned an ""Acceptable"" rating in the Institute's roof strength tests. The 2012 Nissan Versa sedan has not been tested by either the NHTSA or IIHS.
