The Toyota Prius is a midsize gasoline-electric hybrid that was introduced in 2007. The current model is now in its third-generation,last completely redesigned for the 2009 model year. The 2011 model is a carryover.

The Prius is offered in four different model configurations. The standard model is called the Prius Two. It arrives with cloth upholstery,air conditioning with automatic climate control,cruise control,UV-reducing glass,variable-rate windshield wipers,XM Radio,and 15-inch alloy wheels. Moving up to the Prius Three adds an upgraded audio system,tilt and telescoping steering wheel,and the option of a power tilt/slide moonroof with solar panel and remote air conditioning system. The Prius Four features leather upholstery,smart key integration,auto-dimming rearview mirror,and an air purifier. The flagship Prius Five adds LED headlamps and 17-inch alloy wheels,among other upgrades.

All Prius models are fitted with a 1.8-liter,four-cylinder,engine rated at 98 horsepower. Mated to the engine is a permanent-magnet AC synchronous motor,rated at 80 horsepower,with power supplied by sealed Nickel-Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) batteries. Total system output is rated at 134 horsepower. All Prius models are front-wheel drive with an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (ECVT). The EPA rates the fuel economy of the 2011 Toyota Prius between 51 mpg city,and 48 mpg highway,depending on driveline.

The 2011 Toyota Prius Two starts with a base price of about $24,000 and tops out with the Prius Five model,which starts around $29,000.
