The Nissan Rogue,a compact crossover sport utility vehicle,was first introduced to the U.S. market in 2008 ? it was launched the prior year in Japan. The 2011 model is in the fourth year of this first-generation body style and has been upgraded this year with a freshened exterior,new technology,and more convenience features. These include an available navigation system,rear backup camera,USB port for iPod,automatic climate control,automatic headlamps,and more.

There are four Rogue models,based on either front- or all-wheel drive platforms. The standard Rogue S models feature cloth upholstery,power windows,four-speaker audio system,air conditioning,and 16-inch wheels. The SV models are upgraded with premium cloth upholstery ? leather appointments are optional ? and power operated driver seat. Additional standard equipment on the SV trim level includes Nissan's Intelligent Key,lumbar support,steering wheel audio controls,XM satellite radio,upgraded six-speaker audio package,and 17-inch alloy wheels. The new Krom Edition is differentiated by its unique styling,sport-tuned exhaust,and 18-inch wheels.

Under the hood is a standard 2.5-liter,4-cylinder engine rated at 170 horsepower and mated to a continuously-variable transmission (CVT). As mentioned,standard Rogue models are front-wheel drive,with all-wheel drive (to increase traction during inclement weather) is optional. The EPA rates the 2011 Nissan Rogue between 22 mpg city,and 28 mpg highway,depending on driveline.

The 2011 Nissan Rogue S FWD starts with a base price of about $21,500 and tops out with the S AWD Krom Edition model,which starts at $26,000.
