The Nissan Leaf is an all-electric car,brand new for 2011: the first fully electric zero-emissions car to be made available for general sale (as opposed to lease) in the United States. It?s a 5-seater,with four side doors and a hatchback,and has an estimated range of 100 miles between charges,according to Nissan.

The entry-level ?SV? trim of the 2011 Nissan Leaf features 16-inch alloy wheels,cloth upholstery made of recycled materials,LED headlights,keyless entry and ignition,power accessories,cruise control,automatic climate control,trip computer,navigation system,Bluetooth connectivity,and a 6-speaker sound system. The Leaf SL trim includes a spoiler-mounted solar panel,parking assist,and a cargo cover,and steps up to automatic headlights. The home charging station is optional; so is a quick-charge port that expedites the charging process at a commercial charging station. Behind the rear seats,the cargo capacity comes to 14.5 cubic feet; with rear seats folded,this can be increased to 24 cubic feet,the manufacturer says.

The 2011 Nissan Juke?s power plant consists of an 80-kw electric motor that produces 107 horsepower and 207 lb.-ft. of torque. According to the EPA,the Nissan Leaf?s energy efficiency is roughly equivalent to that of a gasoline engine that delivered 106 mpg in the city and 92 mpg on the highway. The motor is fed by a 24-kWh lithium-ion battery that can charge in the garage in 4-8 hours using a 220-volt charger,or in approximately 30 minutes in a charging station.

Standard safety features on the 2011 Nissan Leaf include anti-lock disc brakes,stability control,traction control,adjustable front and rear head restraints,front side air bags,side curtain air bags,and a security system. The Leaf SL trim offers an optional rearview camera.

Starting MSRP for the 2011 Nissan Leaf is $32,780.
