2011 Kia Soul Hatchback

The Kia Soul is a compact five-door that competes with the Nissan Cube and Scion xB. First launched in 2010 and targeted at a younger demographic,the Soul was all-new. For its second model year,Kia has recalibrated the Soul's rear suspension and added standard rear disc brakes (last year's model was fitted with rear drum brakes). Other changes include push-button start,a trip computer,heated outside mirrors,and new door handles.Kia's Soul is offered in four different models. The Base model is fitted with a 1.6-liter engine,cloth upholstery,air conditioning,power windows,power locks,four-speaker audio system,and 15-inch steel wheels. The Soul + is upgraded with a larger 1.8-liter engine,tinted privacy glass,Bluetooth phone connectivity,keyless entry,six-speaker audio system,steering wheel-mounted audio controls,16-inch alloy wheels,and more. The Soul ! features a two-tone sand/black cloth upholstery,eight-speaker audio package,18-inch alloy wheels,and more. The range-topping Soul Sport is fitted with a two-tone red/black upholstery,sport seats,metal pedals,rear spoiler,and unique front and rear fascias.

Under the hood of the five-passenger vehicle is one of two four-cylinder engines. Base models are offered with a 122 horsepower 1.6-liter,while upgraded trim levels are fitted with a standard 142 horsepower 1.8-liter. A five-speed manual transmission is standard,with a 4-speed automatic offered on upgraded trim levels. Front-wheel drive is standard. The EPA rates the 2011 Kia Soul fuel economy between 24 mpg city,and 31 mpg highway,depending on powertrain.

The 2011 Kia Soul Base starts with a base price of about $14,000 and tops out with the Sport model,which starts around $19,000.
