The Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is an all-new model for 2011: a front-wheel-drive,5-passenger sedan. While many hybrid cars use a continuously variable transmission,the Sonata Hybrid features a 6-speed automatic transmission,with an electric motor filling the role of the conventional torque converter. This system,Hyundai says,will result in better fuel efficiency in the city,smoother acceleration on the highway,and a more exciting overall driving experience. On the exterior,the Sonata Hybrid features unique alloy wheels and grille. Its main competitors include the Toyota Camry Hybrid and Ford Fusion Hybrid.
The 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is available in a single trim level that includes 16-inch alloy wheels,dual-zone automatic climate control,cruise control,keyless ignition and entry,a full menu of power accessories (including an 8-way power driver?s seat),Bluetooth connectivity,and 6-speaker sound system. An option package includes a panoramic sunroof,17-inch alloy wheels,leather upholstery,9-speaker Infinity sound system,heated seats,and a touch-screen navigation system.
The standard powertrain for the 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is a 166-horsepower,2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that works with an electric motor,combining to produce 206 horsepower and 193 lb.-ft. of torque. According to the EPA,the 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid delivers 36 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway.
Standard safety features on the 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid include anti-lock disc brakes,electronic brake assist,stability control,traction control,active head restraints,front side air bags,side curtain air bags,and seat belt pre-tensioners. Security features include an ignition-disabling device and an intrusion-detection system.
