All new for 2011,the Honda CR-Z is a hybrid vehicle that the automaker claims will provide much more driving pizzazz than most hybrids. The CR-Z is a hatchback,with 3 doors and 2 seats.
The 2011 Honda CR-Z is available in base or EX trim. The base trim features 16-inch wheels,some standard power features,automatic headlights,automatic climate control,cruise control,and a 6-speaker sound system. The EX trim upgrades the stereo system and adds Xenon headlights,fog lights,leather-wrapped steering wheel,stylish interior touches,and Bluetooth connectivity. Options include dealer-installed upgrades to the wheels and tires. A voice-activated navigation system is also available with the EX trim. Approximately 25 cubic feet of cargo space is available behind the seats,according to Honda.
The 2011 Honda CR-Z?s power plant consists of a 112-horsepower,1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine,supplemented by an electric motor that boosts output to 122 horsepower and 128 lb.-ft. of torque. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard,and comes with hill-start assist. Optional is a continuously variable transmission (CVT,which functions as an automatic) with manual shifters. A 3-mode drive selector allows for driver preferences and driving circumstances. Estimated fuel efficiency is 31 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway with manual transmission,and 35/39 with the CVT,according to the EPA.
Standard safety features on the 2011 Honda CR-Z include anti-lock disc brakes with brake assist,stability control,traction control,front side air bags,side curtain air bags,and active head restraints. In government crash tests,the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the CR-Z 3 (out of 5) stars for driver protection in front-impact tests,and 2 stars for front-passenger protection. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the CR-Z highest-possible ?Good? ratings in all of its crash tests.
