2011 GMC Terrain ? Model OverviewThe GMC Terrain is a compact crossover sport utility vehicle. New for the 2010 model year,the Terrain ? a near-clone to the Chevrolet Equinox ? is entering its second year of production. Aside from some upgraded software for its OnStar telemetry system,the Terrain is a carryover for 2011.GMC's Terrain is offered in four different trim levels. The standard SLE 1 trim includes cloth upholstery,air conditioning,full power equipment,cruise control,rearview camera,six-speaker audio system,17-inch alloy wheels,and more. The SLE 2 adds automatic climate control,power driver's seat,leather-wrapped steering wheel,Bluetooth phone connectivity,eight-speaker audio system,and other equipment. The SLT 1 gains leather upholstery,heated seats,remote start,18-inch alloy wheels,among other features. The range-topping SLT 2 arrives with standard rear parking sensors,power tailgate,driver seat memory,a sunroof,and more.

Under the hood of the five-passenger SUV is a standard 2.4-liter,four-cylinder engine rated at 172 horsepower. This engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The SLE 2 and SLT 1 are also offered with an optional 3.0-liter,six-cylinder ? which is also E85 compatible ? rated at 264 horsepower. It is also mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox.

Front-wheel drive is standard,with all-wheel drive optional. In EPA fuel economy testing,the 2011 GMC Terrain earned between 16 mpg city,and 32 mpg highway,depending on driveline. Fuel economy when running on E85 is lower ? between 12 mpg city and 18 mpg highway.

The 2011 GMC Terrain SLE-1 starts with a base price of about $25,000 and tops out with the SLT-2 model,which starts around $30,500.
