2011 Ford Edge SUV

The Ford Edge is midsize crossover SUV first launched for the 2007 model year. The unibody platform is shared with the Mazda 6 and Ford Fusion sedans and the Lincoln MKX SUV. The Edge received a facelift for the 2011 model year; changes include an increase in horsepower,new exterior styling,and additional features.

The 2011 Ford Edge is offered in four different models: SE,SEL,Limited,and Sport. The Edge SE arrives with standard cloth upholstery,air conditioning,full power accessories,tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel,6-speaker audio package with AUX input,17-inch alloy wheels,and more. The Edge SEL is upgraded with premium cloth upholstery,air conditioning with dual temperature zones,auto-dimming rearview mirror,6-way power-operated driver's seat,satellite radio,and 18-inch alloy wheels,among other things. The Edge Limited is the premium luxury model,with leather upholstery,10-way power-operated driver's seat,power passenger seat,heated front seats,Ford's MyTouch and Sync interfaces,dual USB ports,rearview camera,premium Sony audio system with 12 speakers,and other amenities. The Edge Sport is equipped similar to the Limited,but is configured with a sport-tuned suspension,steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters,and 22-inch alloy wheels. Option packages include wheel upgrades,panoramic sunroof,power liftgate,Xenon headlamps,keyless entry,adaptive cruise control,navigation system,and a dual-screen rear-seat entertainment system.

The 2011 Ford Edge is offered with one of two engines. The base engine is a 3.5-liter 6-cylinder,rated at 285 horsepower. The optional 3.7-liter engine?a 6-cylinder unit only offered in the Edge Sport model?is rated at 305 horsepower. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard. Front-wheel drive is the standard driveline,with all-wheel drive,for improved traction during inclement weather,optional. The EPA rates the fuel economy of the 2011 Ford Edge between 17 mpg city and 27 mpg highway,depending on engine and driveline.

The 2011 Ford Edge SE starts at a base price of around $28,000,and the model range tops out with the Edge Sport,which starts at around $37,500.
