2011 Dodge Nitro SUV

The Dodge Nitro is a compact crossover which was first launched for the 2007 model year. While the Nitro shares platforms with the Jeep Liberty, the Dodge forgoes off-road capability for a more refined on-road ride. Now entering its fifth year of production, the Nitro receives upgraded seat upholstery, tinted windows, racing stripes, and a new engine upgrade package for the 2011 model year.

The Nitro is offered in four different trim levels. The base model, called the Heat,is the only one offered with a choice between a 3.7-liter V6 or an optional 4.0-liter V6. Standard equipment includes cloth upholstery, air conditioning, full power accessories, rear 60/40 split folding seats,six-speaker audio package, and 20-inch alloy wheels.

The Detonator model ?offered only with the larger engine ? features upgraded equipment including body-color cladding, parking sensors,leather-wrapped steering wheel,Bluetooth phone connectivity, and an eight-speaker Infinity audio system. The range-topping Shock model is configured with leather upholstery, heated front seats,power-operated driver's seat, power sunroof, and more.

The Heat model is offered with a 3.7-liter,six-cylinder engine rated at 210 horsepower and mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Its optional engine is a 4.0-liter,six-cylinder engine that is rated at 260 horsepower and mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. The 4.0-liter is standard equipment on the Detonator and Shock models. Rear-wheel drive is standard with four-wheel drive optional with both engine choices. The EPA rates the fuel economy of the 2011 Dodge Nitro between 15 mpg city, and 22 mpg highway, depending on driveline.

The 2011 Nitro Heat 4x2 starts with a base price of about $22,500 and tops out with the Nitro Shock 4x4 model, which starts around $29,500.
