The Chevrolet Impala is a full-size sedan that was originally introduced in the 1950s. After several periods without production,and significant redesigns,the current ninth-generation Impala was introduced for the 2006 model year. As it enters its sixth year of recent production,the sedan is unchanged from last year's model.

The Impala is offered in three trim levels: LS,LT,and LTZ. Base models are equipped with cloth upholstery,full power accessories,cruise control,six-speaker audio,OnStar telematics,17-inch alloy wheels,and more. The LT models are enhanced with dual-zone climate control,trip computer,leather-wrapped steering wheel,Bluetooth phone connectivity,and more. The range-topping LTZ features equipment such as a larger engine,leather upholstery,heated front seats,luxury-tuned suspension,Bose audio system,and 18-inch alloy wheels. Standard passenger configuration is for five,but an optional bench seat increases cabin capacity to six.

The Chevrolet Impala is offered with two engine choices. The standard powerplant is a 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine that is rated at 211 horsepower. The optional engine,only offered on the LTZ model,is a 3.9-liter six-cylinder that generates 224 horsepower. Both engines are E85 compatible. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard,and all Impala models are front-wheel drive. The EPA rates the fuel economy of the 2011 Chevrolet Impala between 17 mpg city and 29 mpg highway,while running on gasoline. Fuel economy on E85 will be lower.

The 2011 Chevrolet Impala LS starts with a base price of about $25,000 and tops out with the Impala LTZ,which starts around $31,000.
