2011 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible
The Chevrolet Corvette is a compact 2-door coupe or convertible sports car that was first introduced in the early 1950s. Now in its sixth generation,last completely redesigned for the 2005 model year,a new Corvette is expected to arrive sometime in 2012. Nevertheless,Chevrolet has added new performance options and enhanced the options list for 2011.
The 2011 Chevrolet Corvette is sold in six different models: Coupe,Convertible,Grand Sport Coupe,Grand Sport Convertible,Z06,and ultra-high-performance ZR1. Standard equipment includes leather upholstery,full power accessories,air conditioning with dual-zone climate control,steering-wheel-mounted audio controls,and 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels. Upgrading to higher-performing models adds larger wheels and tires,firmer suspension,and wider bodywork (to contain the larger wheels and tires). The Z06,in addition to its larger engine,is fitted with lightweight body panels,larger brakes,and a performance-tuned suspension. The flagship ZR1 features 20-inch rear wheels,carbon-ceramic brakes,unique seats,and a stiffer suspension among its enhancements. The standard models are offered with optional Magnetic Ride Control,an active suspension utilizing magnetic fluid in the dampers for better ride tuning. Major options include an automatic transmission,navigation system,clear roof panel for the coupe,cosmetically-enhanced interior,upgraded wheels,upgraded audio package,and custom exhaust.
The 2011 Chevrolet Corvette is offered with one of three engines. The standard power plant under the hood of the Corvette Coupe is a 6.2-liter V-8 engine rated at 430 horsepower. The Z06 models are fitted with a 7.0-liter V-8 engine rated at 505 horsepower. The range-topping ZR1 features a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine rated at 638 horsepower. The standard transmission is a 6-speed manual,however,a 6-speed automatic is optional. Rear-wheel drive is standard on all Corvette models. The EPA rates the fuel economy of the 2011 Chevrolet Corvette between 14 mpg city and 26 mpg highway,depending on engine and transmission.
