The Chevrolet Camaro is a compact 2-door sport coupe and convertible with seating for up to 4 passengers. The original Chevrolet Camaro debuted in 1966 (1967 model year) as a traditional American muscle car. Designed specifically as a competitor to the Ford Mustang,the Camaro offered an oversized engine on a relatively compact rear-wheel-drive platform. The Camaro went through many changes over the decades until it was finally discontinued at the end of the 2002 model year,marking the close of 35 years of continuous production. General Motors revived the Camaro nameplate for the 2010 model year. The all-new,completely restyled fifth-generation Camaro featured a retro-styled appearance that paid homage to the original 1960s models. New for 2011 is a convertible model,mirroring the engine and transmission choices of the closed-roof coupe. Chevrolet has also changed some feature options for 2011,and added a new exterior color.
The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro is sold in nine different body/trim combinations: Coupe LS,Coupe 1LT,Coupe 2LT,Coupe 1SS,Coupe 2SS,Convertible 1LT,Convertible 1SS,Convertible 2LT,and Convertible 2SS. Standard equipment on Camaro LS includes cloth upholstery,air conditioning,keyless entry,cruise control,automatic headlights,OnStar vehicle telematics,6-speaker audio system,18-inch steel wheels,and more. The Camaro 1LT is upgraded with 8-way power seats,fog lamps,and 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels. All Camaro 2LT models arrive with Bluetooth phone connectivity,iPod interface,19-inch alloy wheels,additional gauges on the instrument cluster,and other amenities. The Camaro 1SS features the larger V-8 engine,20-inch wheels,sport suspension,rear spoiler,and leather-wrapped steering wheel. The new Camaro convertible models feature a power-operated soft top that opens and closes in about 20 seconds,according to Chevrolet.
