Originally introduced in 1973 as a personal luxury coup?,the Buick Regal underwent a long evolution until it passed out of production some 30 years later. For 2011 it has been reincarnated as a sporty midsize sedan that offers luxury features at a popular price.

Two trim levels are available on the 2011 Buick Regal: base CXL and CXL Turbo. Standard on the CXL are 18-inch alloy wheels,leather upholstery,dual-zone automatic climate control,a full range of power accessories (including a power driver?s seat),heated front seats,fog lights,Bluetooth connectivity,cruise control,and a 7-speaker sound system. A sunroof,hard-drive-based navigation system,and premium sound system are optional. The CXL Turbo employs a more powerful engine and a few other upgrades,plus a list of options that includes 19-inch wheels,an interactive drive control system,and Xenon headlights.

The 2011 Buick Regal offers a choice of two engines. The CXL?s power plant consists of a 182-horsepower,2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that delivers 19 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway,plus a 6-speed automatic transmission (with manual shifters) and front-wheel drive. The CXL Turbo employs a turbocharged,220-horsepower,2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that delivers 18 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway,according to the EPA. The Turbo offers a choice of a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Standard safety features on the 2011 Buick Regal include anti-lock disc brakes (with brake assist on the CXL Turbo trim),traction control,stability control,front side air bags,and side curtain air bags. Rear parking sensors are standard on the CXL Turbo. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the 2011 Regal highest-possible ?Good? ratings on all its crash tests.

Starting MSRP for the 2011 Buick Regal was $26,360.
