The Buick LaCrosse is a mid-size sedan that was first launched in 2005 as a replacement for the Buick Century and Buick Regal. The second-generation model,an all-new design that shares a platform with the Opel Insignia and Buick Regal,was launched for the 2010 model year. New just last year,the 2011 LaCrosse will no longer be offered with the 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine,and GM's OnStar telematics system will be offered free for six months with the vehicle purchase.
The LaCrosse is offered in three trim levels: CX,CXL,and CXS. Standard equipment includes cloth upholstery,full power accessories,air conditioning,a seven-speaker audio system,17-inch steel wheels with full covers,and more. The CXL models are upgraded with a Comfort and Convenience package,(optional on the base model) that adds dual-zone automatic climate control,auto-dimming mirror,and Bluetooth phone connectivity. In addition,the CXL receives 18-inch alloy wheels,heated seats,leather upholstery,and other premium standard equipment. The CXS package is fitted with everything from the two lower trim packages,but wears 19-inch alloy wheels and features a power sunroof. Options include a navigation system,adaptive shock absorbers,rear seat entertainment,and more.
The Buick LaCrosse is offered with two engine choices. The standard powerplant for the base model is a 2.4-liter,four-cylinder engine that is rated at 182 horsepower. The optional engine on all trim levels is a 3.6-liter,six-cylinder engine that generates 280 horsepower. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard on all models. Standard LaCrosse models are front-wheel drive,but all-wheel drive is offered with the larger engine. The EPA rates the fuel economy of the 2011 Buick LaCrosse between 17 mpg city and 30 mpg highway,depending on powertrain.
The 2011 Buick Lacrosse CX starts with a base price of about $27,500 and tops out with the LaCrosse CXS,which starts around $34,500.
