The Audi A5/S5 is a mid-size two-door that is based on the A4 platform,which was launched for the 2008 model year. It continues on its first-generation platform today,and is offered in both coupe and convertible body styles. There are several changes to the A5/S5 for the 2011 model year. The 3.2-liter six-cylinder engine has been discontinued,the six-speed automatic has been replaced by an eight-speed automatic,and there are several new component and option group changes.

The A5 is offered in four different models: A5 Coupe,A5 Cabriolet,S5 Coupe,and S5 Cabriolet. All models are well equipped,with standard leather upholstery,air conditioning with automatic climate control,full power accessories,18-inch alloy wheels,and more. Audi puts many of its options in trim levels such as Premium,Premium Plus,and Prestige. Each trim level builds upon its predecessor.

The Audi A5/S5 is offered with three engine choices. The standard powerplant for the ""2.0T"" model is a 2.0-liter,turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 211 horsepower. A more powerful engine,standard on S5 Coupe models,is a 4.2-liter eight-cylinder engine that generates 354 horsepower. The S5 Cabriolet is fitted with a 3.0-liter supercharged six-cylinder rated at 333 horsepower.

The standard A5 Coupe models are offered with a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic as well as Audi's Quattro all-wheel drive. A5 Cabriolet models come with front-wheel drive and a standard continuously-variable transmission (CVT). Coupe S5 models are fitted with a six-speed manual or automatic,while the S5 Cabriolet receives a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission as standard equipment. The EPA rates the fuel economy of the 2011 Audi A5/S5 between 21 mpg city and 30 mpg highway,depending on powertrain.

The 2011 Audi A5 Coupe starts with a base price of about $37,500 and tops out with the S5 Cabriolet Prestige,which starts around $65,500.
