The Audi S4 is a sportier,more powerful version of the Audi A4. A supercharged V-6 engine has replaced the V-8 engine that was standard in the S4?s first generation,and a few options have been added to the 2011 model.

The 2011 Audi S4?s base trim features 18-inch silver-aluminum wheels as standard equipment,along with summer tires,leather and Alcantara upholstery,a full menu of power accessories (including 8-way adjustable sport seats,heated in front),sliding and tilting sunroof,automatic Xenon headlights,dual-zone automatic climate control,remote keyless entry,Bluetooth connectivity,and a 10-speaker sound system. The S4 Prestige trim upgrades to 19-inch wheels and a premium Bang & Olufsen sound system,and adds a hard-drive-based navigation system,which is optional on the base trim. The Drive Select package of options,available with the Prestige trim,includes various performance enhancements. Adaptive cruise control and full leather seats are among the stand-alone options.

The 2011 Audi S4?s standard power plant is a supercharged,333-horsepower,3.0-liter V-6 engine that produces 325 lb.-ft. of torque and delivers 18 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway with the standard 6-speed manual transmission,according to the EPA. Gas mileage is 18/28 with the optional 7-speed automated manual transmission. All-wheel drive is standard,and a sport rear differential is an optional feature.

Standard safety features on the 2011 Audi S4 include anti-lock disc brakes,stability control,traction control,front side air bags,and side curtain air bags. Optional safety features include an aggressive emergency braking system that deploys if impact is imminent: it?s part of the adaptive cruise control system. Rear side air bags are also optional. In government crash tests,the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the S4 5 (out of 5) stars for overall side-impact protection and 4 stars for overall front-impact protection.
