New supercharged engines are the main story about the 2011 Audi Q7,a full-size luxury crossover SUV that?s available with a conventional or a turbo-diesel power plant. Audi has also introduced a new 8-speed automatic transmission.
The all-wheel-drive (AWD),7-seat,2011 Audi Q7 is offered in three trim levels: Premium,Premium Plus,and Prestige. The Q7 Premium trim features 18-inch wheels,leather upholstery,power seats and liftgate,many other power accessories,Bluetooth connectivity,Audi?s Multi Media Interface,and a premium audio system. The Q7 Premium Plus adds Xenon headlights,front parking sensors,a rearview camera,navigation system,and upgraded audio system. The Prestige package adds 20-inch wheels,keyless entry and ignition,adaptive headlights,and a blind-spot warning system. The Q7 Prestige trim level adds further upgrades,and options at that level include 21-inch wheels,adaptive cruise control,and various cosmetic enhancements. A towing package is available,and with proper equipment,the Q7 can tow 6600 pounds,according to the manufacturer. Maximum cargo capacity is 72.5 cubic feet,and maximum payload is 1279 pounds.
The 2011 Audi Q7 with gasoline-powered engines are designated 3.0T and 3.0S. The 3.0T?s power plant is a 272-horsepower,3.0-liter,supercharged V-6 engine. The 3.0S employs a 333-horsepower version of the same engine,which produces 325 lb.-ft. of torque. Both engines deliver 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway,according to the EPA. Finally,the Audi Q7 TDI features a 225-horsepower,3.0-liter,turbo-diesel V-6 engine that produces 405 lb.-ft. of torque and delivers 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. The new 8-speed automatic transmission is standard.
Standard safety features on the 2011 Audi Q7 include anti-lock disc brakes,stability control,traction control,front side air bags,side curtain air bags,and rear parking sensors. Optional features include rear side air bags,rearview camera,and a blind-spot warning system; some of these are standard on upper trims. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the Q7 the highest-possible ?Good? ratings in front-,side-,and rear-impact crash tests.
