The Audi Q5 is a compact crossover that joined the automaker's lineup for the 2009 model year. Smaller than the seven-passenger Q7,the five-passenger Q5 competes against the BMW X3. New for 2011 is the base model's turbocharged four-cylinder engine and eight-speed automatic transmission. Combined,they offer more power,improved acceleration,and improved fuel economy compared to the outgoing powertrain. The upscale 3.2 model receives standard S line trim,19-inch wheels,and other upgrades.

The Q5 is offered in four different trims. The standard Q5 2.0T Premium is fitted with a four-cylinder engine,leather upholstery,twelve-way power front seats,three-zone climate control,full power accessories,18-inch alloy wheels,and more. The Q5 2.0T Premium Plus adds items such as a panorama sunroof,power tailgate,xenon headlamps,and Bluetooth phone connectivity. The Q5 3.2 Premium Plus is configured with a six-cylinder engine and S line exterior package,which includes unique fascias,cladding,and more. The range-topping Q5 3.2 Prestige adds equipment such as navigation,Bang & Olufsen audio system,and a rearview camera.

Audi offers two engine choices. The 2.0T models are fitted with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is rated at 211 horsepower. The 3.2 models receive a 3.2-liter,six-cylinder engine with 270 horsepower. Both engines are mated to a new eight-speed transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard,with Audi's ""Quattro"" full-time all-wheel drive?designed to improve traction during inclement weather?as an option. The EPA rates the fuel economy of the 2011 Audi Q5 between 18 mpg city,and 27 mpg highway,depending on driveline.

The 2011 Audi 2.0T Premium starts with a base price of about $35,500 and tops out with the 3.2 Prestige model,which starts around $50,000.
