2011 Acura RL Sedan

This midsize luxury sedan,the flagship model of the Acura lineup,has gained a 6-speed automatic transmission as standard equipment for the 2011 model year. Acura continues to improve its sound insulation,giving the RL a particularly quiet ride,according to the automaker.

The 2011 Acura RL is available in three trim levels: RL,RL with Technology Package,and RL with Advance Package. Standard equipment on the base RL includes 18-inch alloy wheels,leather upholstery,dual-zone automatic climate control,Xenon headlights,sunroof,keyless entry and ignition,a full menu of power accessories,Bluetooth connectivity,and a 10-speaker surround-sound system. Both the sound system and climate control respond to voice commands. The Technology package includes several safety features,heated and ventilated front seats,adaptive headlights,a navigation system,and more. The Advance package includes adaptive cruise control and an automated braking system. The trunk in the RL offers just over 13 cubic feet of cargo space,according to Acura.

The 2011 Acura RL??s 3.7-liter V-6 engine generates 300 horsepower and 271 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission that includes paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel. A proprietary all-wheel-drive system is standard. EPA-estimated gas mileage is 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.

Standard safety features on the 2011 Acura RL include anti-lock disc brakes with brake assist,stability control,front side air bags,side curtain air bags,and active front head restraints. Optional features include rear parking sensors,rearview camera,and a system that automatically applies emergency brakes if impact appears inevitable. In government crash tests,the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the RL 5 (out of 5) stars for frontal- and side-impact safety,and for rollover resistance. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) rated the RL ???Good?????the Institute??s highest rating???in side-,rear-,and front-impact tests.
