The S80 is Volvo?s flagship luxury sedan. It comes with a choice of three engines: an inline 6-cylinder with front-wheel drive (FWD); a turbocharged version of that engine with all-wheel drive (AWD); and a V-8 engine with AWD. For 2010,the grille and exterior accents have been changed,and the option packages have been reshuffled.
The 2010 Volvo S80 comes in three trims,corresponding to the engines. The S80 3.2 model features 17-inch wheels,leather upholstery,dual-zone climate control,power accessories (including 8-way power front seats),Bluetooth connectivity,and an 8-speaker sound system. The turbocharged S80 T6 adds 18-inch wheels and a sunroof. The Executive option package upgrades the seats and upholstery; the Multimedia package adds a navigation system and upgraded sound system; the Climate package addresses cold and rainy weather issues,and the Dynamic package (available on the S80 T6 only) adds a sport-tuned suspension and bi-Xenon headlights. The S80 V8 trim adds the Multimedia and Executive packages,plus several safety features and some exclusive stand-alone options.
The 2010 Volvo S80 3.2 features a 235-horsepower,3.2-liter,inline 6-cylinder engine that delivers 18 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway,according to the EPA. The S80 T6?s power plant is a turbocharged,3.0-liter,inline 6-cylinder engine that produces 281 horsepower and delivers 16 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. The S80 V8 employs a 311-horsepower,4.4-liter V-8 engine that delivers 15 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard on all S80s.
Standard safety features on the 2010 Volvo S80 include anti-lock disc brakes,stability control,traction control,front side air bags,side curtain air bags,active front head restraints,and (with the V8 trim) Volvo?s Personal Car Communicator. Optional safety features include an impact warning system and a blind-spot information system. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the S80 the highest-possible ?Good? ratings for frontal-offset,rear-impact,and side-impact crash protection.
Starting MSRPs for the 2010 Volvo S80 ranged from $39,200 to $50,950.
