The Nissan Versa is a front-wheel-drive economy car,available as a hatchback or sedan. Nissan cites the Versa?s size relative to the competition,and fuel efficiency,as its main selling points. The 2010 model features a new grille,and safety features have been added to the upper trim levels.

The entry-level Versa 1.6 Base trim is available only as a sedan,with 14-inch steel wheels. The 1.6 trim includes air conditioning. The Versa 1.8 S and 1.8 SL trims can be had in sedan or hatchback configurations. The 1.8 S includes 15-inch steel wheels,some power features,air conditioning,and a 4-speaker sound system. A Power Plus package of options includes power windows and locks,cruise control,remote keyless entry,and a few interior improvements. The Versa 1.8 SL includes the Power Plus options as standard features,adds fog lights,and upgrades the sound system and the interior. Options on the Versa SL trim include a sunroof (hatchback only),navigation package with satellite radio,larger wheels,and keyless ignition.

The base power plant in the 2010 Nissan Versa is a 107-horsepower,1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine with a 5-speed manual transmission that delivers 26 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway,according to the EPA. A 4-speed automatic transmission is optional with the 1.6 trim. The Versa 1.8 trims employ a 122-horsepower,1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine. The Versa S features a 6-speed manual transmission or the optional 4-speed automatic; the automatic is standard on the 1.8 SL sedan. The Versa 1.8 SL hatchback features a continuously variable transmission (CVT),which boosts fuel efficiency to 28 mpg in the city,34 mpg on the highway.

All 2010 Nissan Versas feature front side air bags and side curtain air bags as standard safety equipment. Anti-lock brakes are standard on Versa 1.8 models and optional on the 1.6 models. Stability and traction control are standard on the Versa 1.8 SL,optional on the 1.8 S.
