Nissan cites its flagship SUV?s power,spaciousness,and towing capacity as its main selling points. The Armada can accommodate up to 8 people in 3 rows of seats. It?s available in rear- or 4-wheel drive,and two new trims have been added for the 2010 model year.
The entry-level 2010 Nissan Armada SE trim features 18-inch wheels,dual-zone automatic climate control,a full range of power accessories including driver?s seat,8-speaker sound system,and side-step rails. A tow package is optional. One step up is the Titanium edition,which adds the tow package,keyless ignition and entry,fog lights,leather upholstery,11-speaker Bose sound system,and auto-leveling rear air suspension. The top-of-the-line Platinum edition adds a power liftgate,sunroof,hard-drive-based navigation system,and much more. Second-row captain?s chairs are available as an alternative to bench seating with the Platinum trim. Properly equipped,the Armada can tow up to 9100 pounds,Nissan says.
The 2010 Nissan Armada?s powertrain consists of a 317-horsepower,5.6-liter V-8 engine and a 5-speed automatic transmission. It delivers 12 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway,according to the EPA. In some markets,a version of the engine that can run on E85 is offered as a free option.
Safety features on the 2010 Nissan Armada include anti-lock brakes,stability control,active front head restraints,front- and side-impact air bags,overhead air bags,seat belt pre-tensioners,and rear parking assist. A security system detects intruders,and the ignition can be disabled for any but the original manufacturer?s key. A backup camera and front parking sensors are standard or optional,depending on trim level. In NHTSA front-impact crash tests,the Armada earned 5 out of 5 stars for driver protection and 4 stars for front-passenger protection.
MSRPs for the 2010 Nissan Armada ranged from $37,510 to 52,490.
