The Mazda 6 is an affordable,front-wheel-drive,midsize family sedan,now in its second generation. The North American version was given a complete makeover for the 2009 model year,made slightly wider and longer. The 2010 version has added a trim level and some options,and some trim levels feature lowered prices.
The 2010 Mazda 6 is available in seven trims. Those with the ?i? prefix employ a 4-cylinder engine; those with the ?s? prefix have a V-6 engine. The entry-level trim,Mazda 6 i SV,features 16-inch steel wheels,air conditioning,and a 6-speaker sound system. Features are added gradually to the higher trims. The Mazda 6 s Grand Touring trim is the top of the line,and includes 18-inch alloy wheels,leather upholstery,heated front seats,automatic dual-zone climate control,10-speaker Bose sound system,sunroof,Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity,and a trip computer. Available with the Grand Touring trim is the Technology package,which includes keyless ignition and entry,satellite radio,and automatic Xenon headlights. A voice-activated navigation system is also available with the Grand Touring trim.
The ?i? models of the 2010 Mazda 6 lineup feature a 170-horsepower,2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard,and a 5-speed automatic with manual shift control is optional on the SV,Sport,and Touring trims. The automatic transmission is standard on the Touring Plus and Grand Touring versions. The ?s? models of the 2010 Mazda 6 lineup feature a 272-horsepower,3.7-liter V-6 engine,coupled to a standard 6-speed automatic transmission. According to the EPA,the 4-cylinder engine with automatic transmission delivers 21 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway; the V-6 engine delivers 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.
Anti-lock disc brakes,electronic stability and traction control,front side air bags,and side curtain air bags are standard safety equipment on the 2010 Mazda 6. Additionally,a blind-spot monitoring system is standard with the Touring Plus and Grand Touring trims.
Starting MSRP for the 2010 Mazda 6 lineup was $18,200.
