All-new for 2010,the Lincoln MKT is a 7-seat luxury crossover SUV,a more upscale cousin to the Ford Flex. It?s available in front- or all-wheel drive,and offers an optional EcoBoost engine: a twin-turbo V-6 model that employs direct fuel injection and combines fuel efficiency with V-8 power,according to the automaker. The MKT employs electric power steering instead of the traditional hydraulic system,and its optional Active Park Assist technology facilitates parallel parking.
The 2010 Lincoln MKT is available in two trim levels: base and EcoBoost. The base model features 19-inch wheels,adaptive Xenon headlights,power liftgate,keyless ignition,keyless entry,leather upholstery,a fixed panoramic sunroof,a full menu of power accessories (including 12-way heated and ventilated front seats),tri-zone automatic climate control,and a 10-speaker sound system,plus many other features. The EcoBoost trim adds 20-inch wheels. Options on both trims include adaptive cruise control,Active Park Assist,navigation system,power sunroof,upgraded sound system,rear-seat entertainment system,and a fully featured center console. Maximum cargo space is 76 cubic feet.
The standard power plant in the 2010 Lincoln MKT is a 268-horsepower,3.7-liter V-6 engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with manual shift control. Front-wheel drive is standard,with all-wheel drive optional; with front-wheel drive,the base MKT delivers 15 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway,according to the EPA. The EcoBoost trim comes with a 355-horsepower,3.5-liter,twin-turbocharged V-6 engine and all-wheel drive. It delivers 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.
Standard safety features on the 2010 Lincoln MKT include anti-lock brakes,electronic stability control,front side air bags,and side curtain air bags. The 2010 Lincoln MKT received ?Good? ratings in front-,side-,and rear-impact tests from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS),and five stars (out of five) for driver and front passenger frontal-impact protection from the NHTSA.
