The GMC Acadia?s stablemates within the GMC family include the Buick Enclave and the Chevy Traverse. However,with its unibody construction and high seating position,the 2010 Acadia bears a closer resemblance to GMC?s full-size SUVs. Its main competitors include the Honda Pilot,the Mazda CX-9,and the Toyota Highlander.

The GMC Acadia seats seven?or eight if the second-row captain chairs are replaced with bench seating. It is offered in four trim levels,each one building on the last. The base SL has 18-inch wheels,front and rear air conditioning,OnStar telematics,a six-speaker stereo system,and full power accessories. The SLE adds partial power to the front seats,rear parking sensors,a back-up camera,power liftgate,foglamps,Bluetooth connectivity,and other features.

The SLT-1 and SLT-2 trims feature 19- and 20-inch wheels,respectively,and add many high-tech features as well as upgraded upholstery. Available as additional options are tri-zone climate control,a Bose surround-sound stereo,a rear entertainment system,second-row center console,sunroof,heated and cooled front seats,and a technology package. On all trim levels,both the captain chairs and the bench seats fold flat. Stretched to its maximum,the Acadia offers 117 cu. ft. of cargo space.

The Acadia?s standard engine is a 288-hp,3.6-liter V6 that offers 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway with front-wheel drive,according to EPA estimates. (All-wheel drive is also available.) A six-speed automatic transmission is standard. Properly equipped,the 2010 Acadia can tow 4,500 lbs.

NHTSA gave the Acadia five stars in all impact tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave it a ?Good? rating in all tests.

Depending on trim level,starting MSRP for the 2010 GMC Acadia ranged from $31,740 to $42,185.
