The Ford Expedition is the automaker?s full-size SUV. Introduced in 1997 as a replacement for the Ford Bronco,it became Ford?s largest SUV when the Excursion was discontinued in 2005. For 2010,some option packages have been renamed and upgraded. Otherwise,the model is mostly carryover from the previous year. The Sync voice activation system has been improved,and trailer sway control is new,as is Ford's MyKey function,which allows parents to restrict vehicle speed and audio volume.

The Expedition is offered in two sizes: Expedition and Expedition EL,which has a 15-inch-longer wheelbase. Four trim levels available: XLT,Eddie Bauer,Limited,and King Ranch. The base XLT model seats five?or eight if the EL is equipped with a third-row bench?and includes front captain?s chairs,full power accessories,six-speaker sound system,17-inch alloy wheels,and automatic headlights.

The Eddie Bauer Edition has 18-inch wheels,gold body cladding and running boards,a power-folding third-row seat (in both EL and the regular Expedition trims),upgraded climate controls and sound system,plus many other amenities. The Limited trim adds a longer list of standard features that includes perforated leather seats and a towing package. The King Ranch Edition adds upgraded Chapparal leather upholstery,wood trim,and special wheel badges. Options at various trim levels include 20-inch wheels,second-row captain chairs,a sunroof,rear air suspension,heavy-duty towing package,and more.

The 2010 Ford Expedition has a 310-hp,5.4-liter V8 engine,with a six-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard,and optional part-time four-wheel drive with low-range gearing is available. According to the EPA,the Expedition delivers 14 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway. Properly equipped,the Explorer can tow a maximum of 9,200 lbs.

Safety features include MyKey and Trailer Sway Control,as well as a full complement of airbags,antilock disc brakes,and a rollover-sensing stability control system.
