Cadillac says the second-generation 2010 Cadillac SRX is a stylish and economical alternative for luxury crossover buyers. Its main competitors are the Acura RDX,Audi Q5,BMW X3,Lexus RX 350,Mercedes-Benz GLK350,and Volvo XC60. The SRX employs front-wheel drive (all-wheel drive is optional) and comes with a choice of two new turbocharged engines that the automaker says produce strong performance despite their relatively small displacement. The SRX rides on a wide track with 18- or 20-in. wheels, and the body tapers downward at the rear for a sportier profile.
The 2010 SRX is offered in four trim levels. The base model?s standard equipment includes numerous standard power features,an electronic parking brake, leatherette upholstery, and an eight-speaker Bose sound system. The Luxury Collection adds leather upholstery, more power functions, upgraded headlights, rear parking sensors, and a sunroof. The Performance Collection includes larger wheels, upgraded sound system, and a navigation system with back-up camera. The Premium Collection features keyless ignition and entry,tri-zone climate control, and upgraded seats. Cargo space amounts to 30 cu. ft. with the rear seats up,and 61 cu. ft. when the seats are folded.
The standard SRX engine is a new direct-injected 260-hp 3.0-liter V6 that delivers an 260 horsepower and is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The all-wheel-drive Performance and Premium trims receive a turbocharged 2.8-liter V6 engine that delivers 300 hp and 295 lb.-ft. of torque,as well as an upgraded six-speed automatic transmission. According to EPA estimates, the base V6 engine delivers 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway?fuel economy is slightly lower with all-wheel drive. The turbocharged V6 delivers 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway, the automaker says.
