Buick?s flagship sedan, the Lucerne was introduced for the 2006 model year to replace the Park Avenue and the LeSabre. The 2010 Lucerne is a luxury six-seater that borrows some performance features from corporate sister divisions, including a Cadillac engine and the Chevrolet Corvette?s suspension system.
The 2010 Lucerne is offered in three trim levels. The CX (base model) has 17-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, and satellite radio. The CXL features dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, heated front seats and steering wheel, and Bluetooth connectivity. (The CXL trim is further divided into five variants that add increasingly upscale features, such as chrome wheels,a premium sound system, and upgraded seats.) The Super trim level has 18-inch chrome wheels, adaptive sport-tuned suspension, power sunroof, ventilated front seats, and suede/leather upholstery. All Lucerne variants are front-wheel drive.
The CX and CXL feature a 227-hp,3.9-liter V6 engine that offers fuel economy of 17 mpg in the city,26 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined, according to EPA estimates. The Super has a 292-hp 4.6-liter Northstar V8 engine that gets 15 mpg in the city,22 mpg highway, and 18 mpg combined. All models have a four-speed automatic transmission.
Standard safety features on all Lucernes include four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, traction control, and a full complement of airbags. CXL Premium and Super trims get electronic stability control, rear parking assist, and lane departure warning.
In NHTSA crash tests, the Lucerne earned five stars in frontal collisions and four stars for side impacts. The IIHS gave the Lucerne a ?Good? rating in frontal-offset tests and ?Acceptable? in side impact testing.
Base MSRP for the 2010 Buick Lucerne ranged from $29,230 to $42,415.
