The Audi Q5 is a five-passenger,all-wheel-drive wagon with a V6 engine and a six-speed automatic transmission. Audi?s first luxury compact SUV was introduced as a new model in 2009 and has not changed much for 2010. It competes (in a crowded segment) with the Infiniti EX35,the Volvo XC60,the Acura RDX,and the Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class. Or,if you prefer,consider it a lighter,smaller version of the Audi Q7 with a long list of luxury features.

The Audi Q5 is offered in three trim levels: Premium,Premium Plus,and Prestige. The Premium (base) package includes 18-inch wheels,eight-way power seats,three-zone climate control,trip computer,10-speaker stereo system (with optional Bluetooth connectivity and iPod interface),heated side mirrors,eight-way power front seats (heating is optional),and tilt/telescoping steering wheel. A sunroof is optional.

The Premium Plus package includes the aforementioned features,as well as a standard sunroof and heated front seats,xenon headlights,LED daytime running lights,and optional 19-inch wheels. The Prestige trim includes 19-inch wheels,keyless ignition and entry,a navigation package,and an upgraded sound system. Twenty-inch wheels and the Audi Drive Select system are optional. The Luxury Package of options includes upgraded seating.

Standard on all Q5s is Audi?s proprietary Quattro all-wheel drive system and a six-speed automatic transmission. The 3.2-liter V6 engine produces 270 hp and 243 lb.-ft. of torque. EPA estimates are 18 mpg city,23 mpg highway,and 20 mpg combined. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) rated the Q5 ?Good? on front and side impact tests,while NHTSA gave the Q5 five stars in all categories in its testing. Safety features include stability and traction control,front and side airbags,and side curtain airbags.
