This mid-size luxury sedan,the flagship of the Acura lineup,was significantly upgraded in the 2009 model year. Its increased power and revised luxury features carry over into 2010,with some added touches. The interior of the RL provides luxury features as well as a quiet ride,due in part to enhanced sound insulation and acoustic glass,according to the automaker.

The 2010 RL is available in three trim levels: RL,RL with Technology Package,and RL with Technology Package Plus CMBS. Standard equipment on the RL includes a leather-trimmed interior,power front seats,dual-zone automatic climate control,leather-wrapped and multi-function steering wheel,multi-information display,and surround-sound audio system with Bluetooth connectivity. The Technology Package adds the satellite-linked Acura Navigation System?which features voice recognition,real-time traffic and weather updates,and traffic re-routing capability?as well as a back-up camera and upgraded seats and accents. The CMBS (Collision Mitigation Braking System) applies the brakes when a front-end collision is imminent.

The RL?s 3.7-liter V6 engine generates 300 hp and 271 lb. ft. of torque. This engine is mated to a sequential SportShift five-speed automatic transmission that includes paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel. A proprietary all-wheel drive system is standard. EPA-estimated gas mileage is 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg highwayThe Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) rated the RL ?Good? in side-,rear- and front-impact tests. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave it five stars for frontal and side-impact safety,and for rollover resistance.
