2009 Acura RL Sedan
Introduced in 1996,the Acura RL is the flagship of the Acura lineup,and is now in its second generation. It underwent significant changes for 2009. Billed by Acura as the most extensive mid-model change in its history,the revised car features an upgraded,more powerful engine with improved exhaust emissions performance.
Interior changes include revamped front seats and increased leg room in the second row. Wood trim highlights the steering wheel and gearshift lever. The Active Sound Control system shuts out more engine and exhaust noise than in previous years,as well as some road and tire noise. The voice-activated navigation and convenience controls now recognize more than 700 commands. On the outside,the RL is notable for its ?Power Plenum? grille.
Three trim levels are available: RL,RL Technology Package,and RL Technology Package with CMBS. Base features include 18-inch alloy wheels (vs. 17 inches in previous models),xenon headlights,sunroof,keyless ignition,Bluetooth connectivity,steering-wheel-mounted audio controls,and a 10-speaker Bose surround-sound system with a six-disc CD/DVD-audio changer,satellite radio,USB port,and auxiliary audio jack. Both front seats feature 10-way power control,heated surfaces,and six levels of cooling. The Technology Package includes adaptive headlights,rearview camera,GPS-linked and solar-sensing climate-control system,real-time weather reporting,navigation system. The CMBS package includes adaptive cruise control,real wood instrument panel trim,and Acura's Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS).
The RL features a 3.7-liter,300-hp V6 engine that produces 271 lb.-ft. of torque,a five-speed automatic transmission with manual shift control,and all-wheel drive. EPA-estimated gas mileage is 16 mpg city,22 mpg highway,and 18 mpg combined. The RL earned five stars from NHTSA in both frontal and side-impact tests,and a ?Good? score from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in frontal offset and side-impact crashes.
When introduced,the 2009 Acura RL base price was $46,680.
