The year was 1973. Cadillacs were enormous steel monsters harboring hugely inefficient V8 engines. With the gas crisis that soon followed, this type of car became a recipe for disaster. Today,Cadillac builds another enormous steel monster powered by a gas-thirsty V8,only the car-buying public can't seem to get enough of it. The Escalade SUV is big on power, luxury and looks. It makes an impression wherever it goes and everyone from well-to-do real estate brokers to NBA all-stars seem to love this vehicle. As the old saying goes, those who forget the past are destined to repeat it. With that in mind, let's hope the Escalade SUV doesn't become the modern day equivalent of the Fleetwood Brougham.
