Exterior Features
The updated 2013 Volvo XC90 is offered in 3.2 and R-Design model series, each available with standard, Premier Plus, or Platinum trim. New for 2013 are LED running lights and LED taillights on all models. Standard on all models are rain-sensing wipers and headlight washers, redesigned wheels, and updated exterior trim. The R-Design models add unique 19-inch wheels, active bi-xenon headlights, and special R-Design styling modifications.

Interior Features
The 7-passenger 2013 XC90 3.2 is equipped with standard leather seats with power adjustment for the front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, air conditioning vents for the third-row seat, power sunroof, Bluetooth connectivity with audio streaming capability, and a stereo with HD radio, satellite radio, iPod connection, USB port, and an auxiliary audio input jack. The R-Design model adds aluminum interior trim, unique gauges, and numerous R-Design cabin features.

Optional Features
Volvo XC90 3.2 buyers who select the Premier Plus trim level receive premium leather seats, genuine wood trim, active bi-xenon headlights, and additional upgrades. The R-Design with Premier Plus trim adds a cargo area grocery bag hook, Homelink remote, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror, features also included on the 3.2 model. Volvo XC90s equipped with Platinum trim receive a premium surround-sound system, navigation system, and a reversing camera. Additional options include heated front seats, rear-seat entertainment system, wood steering wheel, and a blind-spot monitoring system.

Under the Hood
Every 2013 Volvo XC90 is equipped with a 3.2-liter, inline 6-cylinder engine generating 240 horsepower and 236 lb.-ft. of torque. A 6-speed automatic transmission delivers power to either the front (FWD) or all four wheels (AWD).

Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy estimates for the 2013 Volvo XC90 are:

• XC90 FWD: 16/23/19 mpg (city/highway/combined)
• XC90 AWD: 16/23/18 mpg

Safety
The 2013 Volvo XC90 is equipped with 6 air bags, including side curtains that protect occupants in all three rows of seats. The SUV is also equipped with standard traction and stability control, 4-wheel-disc anti-lock brakes with brake assist, reversing park-assist sensors, and a whiplash protection seat design. The R-Design models have standard active bi-xenon headlights that swivel to illuminate around dark corners. These are optional on the 3.2 model. Additional safety options include a reversing camera, and a blind-spot monitoring system.

As this model overview was written, neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) had performed crash tests on the 2013 XC90.
