Exterior Features
The 2012 Volvo C70 is a 2-door midsize luxury convertible with a retractable hardtop, and offered in two models--T5 and T5 Inscription--each offering two trim levels--Premier Plus and Platinum. LED daytime running lights and 17-inch alloy wheels are standard.
Interior Features
The 2012 Volvo C70 seats 4 passengers and features 12.8 cubic feet of cargo capacity. The base T5 model features leather upholstery, power seats, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, 8-speaker audio system, and keyless entry. The upgraded T5 Premier Plus trim adds keyless ignition, while the top-of-the-line T5 Platinum offers an upgraded 14-speaker audio system and a navigation system. Dual-zone automatic climate control is standard on all C70 models.
Optional Features
The Climate package and Dynamic package are available for all trim levels. The Climate package adds an upgraded climate control system, headlight washers, rain and humidity sensors, and heated seats. The Dynamic package offers 18-inch alloy wheels, active dual Xenon headlights, and a sport leather steering wheel. Volvo's Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) is optional on all trims.
Under the Hood
All Volvo C70 models are front-wheel drive and come with a turbocharged, 2.5-liter 5-cylinder engine rated at 227 horsepower. A 5-speed automatic transmission with manual shift is standard on all models.
Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Volvo C70 are 18/28/21 mpg (city/highway/combined).
Safety
Standard safety features of note on the Volvo C70 convertible include 4-wheel anti-lock brakes, stability and traction control, swiveling headlamp beams, automatic roll bars, and both front-seat-mounted side air bags and front-seat side curtain air bags.
To date, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has not tested the 2012 Volvo C70. In crash tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the C70 received a "Good" rating--the Institute's highest--for both frontal-offset and side-impact crash protection.
