The 4-seat hardtop convertible coupe receives only minor cosmetic changes for 2010. These include an upgraded steering wheel and instrument cluster, new audio features, and standard Bluetooth phone connectivity.

A 2-door cabriolet with a retractable hardtop, the Volkswagen Eos combines a conservative look with a luxurious interior. In terms of performance, it might be considered the convertible version of the Volkswagen GTI. Design-wise, it's an amalgam of several Volkswagen models.

Two trim levels are available for the 2010 Volkswagen Eos. The Eos Komfort version features 16-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, heated front seats, trip computer, Bluetooth connectivity, and an 8-speaker sound system. Its power retractable hardtop includes an integrated power sunroof. The Eos Lux steps up to 17-inch wheels and leather upholstery, upgraded interior trim, and more power features. Bi-Xenon headlights are optional for both Eos trims; so is a hard-drive-based navigation system. The Eos Lux may upgrade to 18-inch wheels, sport suspension, and a Dynaudio sound system. A White Night version of the Eos provides a striking black-and-white color scheme, but is hard to find in the United States. The trunk provides 9.3 cubic feet of cargo space with the top up, and 5.4 cubic feet with the top stowed, according to VW.

The 2010 Volkswgen Eos' standard power plant is a 200-horsepower, 2.0-liter, turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces 207 lb.-ft. of torque and delivers 21 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway with the standard 6-speed manual transmission, according to the EPA. With the 6-speed direct-shift gearbox (or "DSG," an automated manual setup that's optional on the Eos Komfort trim and standard on the Lux trim), the Eos delivers 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.

Standard safety features on the 2010 Volkswagen Eos include anti-lock disc brakes with brake assist and front side air bags. Rear parking sensors are optional. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the Eos the highest-possible "Good" ratings in frontal-offset and side-impact crash tests.
