Overview

The Toyota Sienna replaced the unusual mid-engine Toyota Previa as a conventional front-engine, front-wheel-drive minivan more than a decade ago. Sharing a platform with the Toyota Camry, the Sienna is offered with a standard 3.5-liter V-6 engine and a choice between front- or all-wheel drive. The 2010 Sienna is offered in eight trim levels, with up to 8-passenger seating capacity. Toyota made no changes to the 2010 Sienna as an all-new model is arriving for 2011.

The Toyota Sienna is a family minivan that offers many luxury upgrades. Toyota cites the Sienna's roominess, and the optional all-wheel drive. This is the final year for the current model, as an all-new, third-generation Toyota Sienna is expected for the 2011 model year.

Four trim levels are available on the 2010 Toyota Sienna, all of which feature standard front-wheel drive (FWD), with all-wheel drive (AWD) available on all but the base trim. The Sienna CE trim features 16-inch steel wheels, air conditioning, power accessories, and a 6-speaker sound system. It's available with seating for 7 or 8, as is the LE trim, which adds upgrades to the windows, mirrors, and sound system, as well as a roof rack, cruise control, and a folding front passenger seat.

The Sienna XLE and Limited trims seat 7. The Sienna XLE upgrades to automatic headlights, power rear doors and liftgate, tri-zone automatic climate control, more powerized accessories, alloy wheels, and other enhancements. The Sienna Limited trim features 17-inch wheels, leather upholstery, sunroof, 10-speaker JBL sound system with satellite radio, and more.

Run-flat tires are included with AWD Siennas. With all but the driver's seat folded, maximum cargo space comes to 149 cubic feet. With a tow-prep package, the 2010 Toyota Sienna can tow up to 3500 pounds, according to the manufacturer.

The standard power plant for all 2010 Toyota Sienna trims is a 266-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 engine with 5-speed automatic transmission. It delivers 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway with FWD, 16/21 with AWD, according to the EPA.

Standard safety features on the 2010 Toyota Sienna include anti-lock disc brakes, stability control, traction control, active front head restraints, front air bags, front side air bags, side curtain air bags, and front and rear park assist (standard on the Sienna Limited trim, optional on the XLE). In government crash tests, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the Sienna 4 (out of 5) stars for driver protection and 5 stars for front-passenger protection in front-impact tests, and 5 stars across the board in side-impact tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the Sienna the highest-possible "Good" ratings in frontal-offset and side-impact tests.

Starting MSRPs for the 2010 Toyota Sienna ranged from $24,540 to $37,865.
