Introduction
The Toyota RAV4 is a compact crossover SUV, one of the original members of this now large and popular vehicle segment when it debuted nearly 20 years ago. Key competitors include the Chevrolet Equinox, Ford Escape, GMC Terrain, Honda CR-V, Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, Jeep Patriot, Kia Sportage, Mazda CX-5, Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan Rogue, Subaru Forester, and Volkswagen Tiguan.

Models and Features
Toyota offers the 2015 RAV4 in LE, XLE, and Limited trim levels. The XLE trim level includes fog lights, variable intermittent wipers, heated side mirrors with turn signal indicators embedded into body-color housings, roof rails, added chrome exterior trim, and a set of 17-in. aluminum wheels as well as a power sunroof along with dual-zone automatic climate control, Entune Audio Plus infotainment system features, sport-bolstered front seats, and cargo cover, among other upgrades from the LE.

The RAV4 Limited is loaded up with leatherette upholstery, automatic headlights, power tailgate, and 18-in. aluminum wheels. Entune App Suite is also standard for this version, providing touch-screen access to a variety of smartphone apps when the phone is paired to the system, and navigation is also included with the Entune infotainment system. Additional upgrades include a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, auto-dimming rearview mirror, 8-way power driver's seat, heated front seats, and a keyless passive entry system with push-button engine starting.

Under the Hood
All 2015 RAV4s are equipped with a 176-horsepower, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. A 6-speed automatic transmission delivers the power to the crossover SUV's front wheels and offers both Eco and Sport driving modes, in addition to a Normal mode.

A Dynamic Torque Control all-wheel-drive (AWD) system is optional, delivering up to half of the engine's output to the rear wheels. An AWD Lock setting splits power 50:50 up to a vehicle speed of 25 mph, according to Toyota.

All 2015 RAV4s include free scheduled maintenance for the first 2 years or 25,000 miles of ownership.

Fuel Economy
According to the EPA, the 2015 RAV4 with front-wheel drive is rated to get 24 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. Opt for the AWD system and those estimates drop to 22 mpg city/29 mpg highway.

Safety and Technology
All versions of the 2015 RAV4 are equipped with a reversing camera and a 6.1-in. touch-screen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity and a USB 2.0 port. Upgrade to the RAV4 XLE for satellite radio, HD Radio, HD traffic and weather, and iTunes tagging capability. The Limited trim level includes a Smart Key passive entry system with push-button starting, navigation system, and Entune App Suite technology.

Exclusive to the RAV4 Limited, a Technology package equips the crossover SUV with a blind-spot monitoring system, rear cross-traffic monitoring system, lane-departure warning system, and automatic high-beam headlights.
