        Exterior Features
        The 2012 Toyota Prius v is a hybrid wagon available in three trim levels: Two, Three, and Five. All trims come with LED taillights and aluminum wheels. In addition to the extra length, width, height, and weight, the Prius v has a higher roofline over the cargo area, creating more interior space.
        
        Interior Features
        The Prius v offers extra interior space, which is most evident when comparing cargo volume measurements with the standard Prius. The Prius v adds 12.7 more cubic feet of luggage room with the rear seats in use, and 27.7 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down, for a total of 67.3 cubic feet of cargo space, which is comparable to most compact crossover SUVs.
        
        Optional Features
        Optional features on the Prius v Three trim include satellite radio, navigation system, and Entune mobile application technology. The Prius v Five is equipped with larger wheels, leatherette seats, keyless entry and push-button start, and LED headlights. A JBL premium sound system, panoramic sunroof, and intelligent cruise control are optional on the Prius v Five.
        
        Under the Hood
        Though the Prius v is heavier than the standard Prius, it shares the same hybrid drive system, which is an Atkinson-cycle 1.8-liter gasoline engine, an electric assist motor, and a rechargeable nickel-metal hydride battery pack. Total system output to the front wheels is 134 horsepower. The motor is mated with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
        
        Fuel Economy
        EPA fuel-economy estimates for the 2012 Toyota Prius v are 44/40/42 mpg (city/highway/combined).
        
        Safety
        Standard safety equipment on the 2012 Toyota Prius v includes seven air bags, ABS with brake assist, traction and stability control, Smart Stop technology, and a reversing camera. Safety Connect telematics service with Automatic Collision Notification is optional on the Prius v Five.
        
        To date, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has not tested the 2012 Toyota Prius v. However, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) named the Toyota Prius v a "Top Safety Pick" for 2012.
