Exterior FeaturesThe 2013 Suzuki SX4 is offered as a 4-door sedan in LE or Sport SE trim and as two 5-door hatchback variants called the SX4 Crossover and the SX4 SportBack.
The SX4 LE Sedan includes a 6-speed manual transmission, 15-inch steel wheels with plastic wheel covers, power exterior mirrors, and body-color trim.
The SX4 Crossover is similar to a compact SUV, equipped with all-wheel drive (AWD), 6.9 inches of ground clearance, roof rack rails, gray body cladding, rear window wiper and washer, and 16-inch steel wheels with plastic wheel covers.
The SX4 SportBack combines front-wheel drive (FWD) with a sport suspension, 17-inch aluminum wheels with performance tires, fog lights, and a body kit.
Interior FeaturesThe Suzuki SX4 LE Sedan is equipped with air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, trip computer, manual driver's seat height adjuster, tilt steering wheel, 60/40-split folding rear seat and a stereo with a CD player and a USB port.
The SX4 Crossover model adds remote keyless entry and a cargo area storage bin, while the SX4 SportBack comes standard with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and cruise control.
Optional FeaturesThe SX4 LE sedan offers an optional Popular package that provides a continuously variable transmission (CVT), cruise control, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, remote keyless entry, and 15-inch aluminum wheels. The Popular package model is also offered in a greater variety of colors.
The SX4 Sport SE Sedan is equipped with Bluetooth connectivity (including streaming audio), touch-screen navigation system, NuLink telematics service, 17-inch aluminum wheels, performance tires, fog lights, and a body kit.
The SX4 SportBack Technology model is equipped with a CVT with paddle shifters, and comes with a touch-screen navigation system, NuLink telematics service, and a bigger rear spoiler.
The SX4 Crossover Premium model adds a CVT and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls. The Premium model is offered with a Technology Value package with a touch-screen navigation system, NuLink telematics service, heated front seats, fog lights, and a rear bumper brush guard.
Under the HoodEvery Suzuki SX4 model is equipped with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that creates 150 horsepower with a 6-speed manual transmission and 148 horsepower when paired with the available CVT. The SX4 Crossover model is equipped with standard all-wheel-drive; the other two models offer front-wheel drive.
Suzuki equips every SX4 with a 7-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty that is fully transferrable should the owner sell the car.
Fuel EconomyEPA fuel-economy estimates for the 2013 Suzuki SX4 are:
- SX4 Sedan with manual transmission: 23/33/26 mpg (city/highway/combined)
- SX4 Sedan with CVT: 25/32/28 mpg
- SX4 Sedan Sport SE with CVT: 23/30/26 mpg
- SX4 SportBack with CVT: 23/30/26 mpg
- SX4 Crossover with manual transmission: 22/30/25 mpg
- SX4 Crossover with CVT: 23/29/25 mpg
SafetyEvery 2013 Suzuki SX4 model is equipped with 8 air bags, including rear side-impact air bags for outboard passengers. Additionally, the SX4 comes standard with traction control, stability control, and 4-wheel-disc anti-lock brakes with brake assist. There are no other safety features available on this car.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the 2013 SX4 receives a 4-star overall rating (out of 5 stars) for its crashworthiness. Note, however, that side-impact protection for the front-seat passenger rates just 2 stars. The SX4 receives 3 stars, both for front passenger protection in a frontal impact collision and in the side-impact pole test. As this overview is written, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has not rated the 2013 Suzuki SX4. However, the structurally identical 2012 model received a "Top Safety Pick" designation from the Institute.
