  • Redesigned wheel choices
  • Additional exterior paint colors
  • Seat fabrics, which are available in a 2-tone interior color scheme
  • Standard navigation system with Bluetooth connectivity

Exterior Features
The 2013 Suzuki Grand Vitara is a rarity in that it is a small SUV built with body-on-frame construction, which gives it greater off-road capability than many competing car-based crossover SUVs. For 2013, the updated Suzuki Grand Vitara is sold in Base, Premium and Limited trim levels.

The Base model is offered only with rear-wheel drive, only with a manual gearbox, and only with black or silver paint. It rides on 16-inch steel wheels and features automatic headlights, power exterior mirrors, rear window wiper, and a rear window defroster.

Interior Features
The 2013 Suzuki Grand Vitara includes automatic climate control, power windows, power door locks, remote keyless entry, manual driver seat height adjuster, and a tilt steering wheel with integrated audio controls. A touch-screen navigation system is standard, and it includes Bluetooth connectivity and audio streaming capability, USB port, and Pandora Internet radio compatibility. A driver information display includes a trip computer and an outside temperature gauge, and the cargo area is outfitted with a cover, light, and an underfloor storage area. A tire inflation kit is standard on the base model.

The Grand Vitara offers 28.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind its fold-and-tumble 60/40-split folding rear seat. Fold the seat, and the Grand Vitara holds 70.8 cubic feet of cargo. The Grand Vitara Limited model's cargo area is slightly smaller at 26.6 cubic feet and 66.3 cubic feet, respectively.

Optional Features
The 2013 Suzuki Grand Vitara Premium trim level adds a standard continuously variable transmission (CVT), along with 16-inch aluminum wheels, dark-tinted rear privacy glass, cruise control, and heated exterior mirrors. This model is also available in a wider variety of colors.

The 2013 Suzuki Grand Vitara Limited is equipped with 18-inch aluminum wheels, fog lights, roof rack rails, chrome accent trim, and a tailgate-mounted full-size spare tire with a hard shell. Inside, the Limited model includes leather seats, heated front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, simulated wood trim, power sunroof, keyless entry and push-button ignition system, and a premium sound system.

A reversing camera is optional on all three versions of the Grand Vitara, and dealers can install a number of extra-cost accessories. A full-time single-mode 4-wheel-drive (4WD) system is optional on the Grand Vitara Premium model, while the Grand Vitara Limited can be equipped with a 4-Mode 4WD system that includes low-range gearing.

Under the Hood
Suzuki offers a single engine for the Grand Vitara--a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder generating 166 horsepower and 162 lb.-ft. of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox is standard on the Base model, while other Grand Vitaras come with a standard CVT. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) is standard, with 4WD optional for the Premium and Limited trims.

Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy estimates for the 2013 Suzuki Grand Vitara are:

  • Grand Vitara RWD with manual transmission: 19/26/22 mpg (city/highway/combined)
  • Grand Vitara RWD with automatic transmission: 19/25/21 mpg
