        Exterior Features
        The 2012 Scion iQ is equipped in a single trim level, with an available catalog of additional-cost enhancements. Included in the base price are 16-inch steel wheels and power side mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators.
        
        The Scion iQ's natural competitor is the Smart Fortwo. The Scion is nearly 5 inches wider and 14 inches longer than the Smart, combined with greater seating and cargo capacity.
        
        Interior Features
        The Scion iQ provides two rear seats for additional passenger space. Standard features include air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, remote keyless entry, tilt steering wheel, and cloth seats. Bluetooth connectivity is also included, along with a 160-watt sound system with HD radio, USB port, and an auxiliary audio input jack.
        
        Optional Features
        Optional features on the 2012 Scion iQ include a navigation system, premium sound system, aluminum wheels, and assorted cosmetic upgrades. A range of Toyota Racing Development items is also available.
        
        Under the Hood
        The Scion iQ is fitted with a 1.3-liter 4-cylinder engine rated at 94 horsepower and 89 lb.-ft. of torque. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) powers the front wheels.
        
        Fuel Economy
        EPA fuel-economy estimates for the 2012 Scion iQ are 36/37/37 mpg (city/highway/combined).
        
        Safety
        Standard safety equipment on the Scion iQ includes 11 air bags, anti-lock brakes with brake assist, traction and stability control, and a Smart Stop feature that Scion says prevents the vehicle from accelerating when the brake pedal is depressed.
        
        In government tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the iQ received an overall protection rating of 4 (out of 5) stars, but only 3 stars for frontal-offset crash protection in the front passenger seat and for side-impact crash protection in the rear seats. To date, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has not tested the 2012 Scion iQ.
