Exterior Features
The 2012 Porsche Panamera is a luxury-performance 4-passenger, 4-door hatchback offered in seven trim levels, including a new S Hybrid. The base model includes 18-inch wheels, automatic Xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, pop-up rear spoiler, rear parking sensors, power rear hatch, and adaptive suspension dampers.
Interior Features
Standard amenities on the Porsche Panamera include a sunroof, auto-dimming mirrors, tilt-and-telescoping steering column, 8-way power front seats, driver memory functions, cooled glove box, heated front seats, leather upholstery, 60/40-split rear seatback, rear bucket seats, navigation system, and an 11-speaker sound system with electronics interfaces.
Optional Features
The 2012 Porsche Panamera offers a variety of options with all trim levels, including adaptive headlights, shift paddles, 19-inch and 20-inch wheels, adaptive air suspension, front parking sensors, keyless entry and ignition, 14-way power front seats and adjustable lumbar support, power-adjustable steering column, heated rear seats, full leather interior, 14-speaker Bose sound system, ceramic-composite brakes, rear windshield wiper, ventilated front and rear seats, 8-way power rear seats, heated steering wheel, rear sunshades, rear ambient light, and rear-seat refrigerator.
Under the Hood
All trims of the Porsche Panamera feature a stop-start function that reduces fuel consumption by shutting off the engine when the car stops and then restarts it automatically. All gas-powered Panameras include a 7-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission. Some versions offer all-wheel drive. Lower trim levels are powered by a 3.6-liter V-6 engine rated at 300 horsepower. Higher trims are fitted with a 4.8-liter V-8 rated at 400 horsepower, or up to 550 horsepower with turbocharging. The S Hybrid is powered by a 3.0-liter V-6 engine paired with a 35-kilowatt electric motor and an 8-speed automatic transmission with manual shift control.

EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Porsche Panamera are:
- Panamera base model with 3.6-liter engine: 18/27/21 mpg (city/highway/combined)
- Panamera 4 with 3.6-liter engine: 18/26/21 mpg
- Panamera S and 4S with 4.8-liter engine: 16/24/19 mpg
- Panamera Turbo and Turbo S with turbocharged 4.8-liter engine: 15/23/18 mpg
- Panamera S Hybrid: 22/30/25 mpg
Safety
Standard safety features on the Porsche Panamera include stability and traction control and a battery of air bags.
To date, neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) have tested the 2012 Porsche Panamera.
