Overview

The Panamera is all about power and luxury, and for 2011 Porsche has added a turbocharger kit that will add even more power to its optional turbocharged V-8 engine. Two trims with powerful V-6 engines have also been introduced.

Five trim levels are available on the 2011 Porsche Panamera. The base Panamera and Panamera S trims employ rear-wheel drive, and the Panamera 4, Panamera 4S, and Panamera Turbo trims feature all-wheel drive. Standard equipment on the base Panamera includes 18-inch wheels, leather upholstery with bucket seats front and back, sunroof, full power accessories, adaptive suspension dampers, cooled glove compartment, dual-zone automatic climate control, hard-drive-based navigation system, 11-speaker sound system, and much more. The Panamera 4, S, and 4S trims are equally appointed but differ as to drivetrain and/or engine. The Panamera Turbo steps up to 19-inch wheels, upgraded suspension, bi-xenon headlights, premium sound system, more power options to the accessories, and many other enhancements. Virtually all the Turbo's additions are available as options on the other trims.

Three different engines are offered in the 2011 Porsche Panamera. The standard power plant in the base Panamera and Panamera 4 is a 300-horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6 engine that produces 295 lb.-ft. of torque and delivers 18 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway in the base model, according to the EPA. The S and 4S trims employ a 400-horsepower, 4.8-liter V-8 engine, and the Panamera Turbo features a turbocharged version of that engine that produces 500 horsepower and 516 lb.-ft. of torque-or 540 horsepower and 590 lb.-ft. with the optional Panamera Turbo Kit. Standard on all 2011 Panamera models is a 7-speed, dual-clutch, automated manual transmission. All Panameras feature an automatic stop/start feature for improved fuel efficiency.

Standard safety features on the 2011 Porsche Panamera include anti-lock disc brakes with brake assist, stability control, traction control, rear parking sensors, front and rear side air bags, side curtain air bags, and front knee air bags. A rearview camera is optional.

Starting MSRP for the 2011 Porsche Panamera is $74,400; higher trims and options can bring the price to well over $130,000.
