Exterior FeaturesThe 2012 Nissan Sentra is a compact 4-door sedan, and is offered in six trim levels. Fifteen-inch steel wheels are standard, with larger alloy wheels available on higher trim levels.
Interior FeaturesThe 2012 Nissan Sentra offers seating for 5 passengers. Base Sentra models feature cloth upholstery, manual air conditioning, power windows, power locks, 60/40 split-folding rear seats, and more. Upgraded trim levels are fitted with keyless entry/ignition, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, steering-wheel-mounted controls, rearview camera, and other amenities.
Optional FeaturesMajor options on the 2012 Nissan Sentra include the Convenience package, Moonroof package, Technology package, Navigation package, and Leather package. The Sentra SE-R and SE-R Spec V are range-topping performance-oriented versions with sport-tuned suspension, lower ride height, performance tires, larger front brakes, and cosmetic enhancements.
Under the HoodNissan Sentra models are fitted with one of two different engines. Standard Sentra models feature a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine rated at 140 horsepower mated to a 6-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Sentra SE-R models feature a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine rated at 177 horsepower, while the SE-R Spec V boasts a 200-horsepower version of the same engine. The Sentra SE-R is equipped with a CVT and the SE-R Spec V features a 6-speed manual transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard.
Fuel EconomyEPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Nissan Sentra are:
- Nissan Sentra with 2.0-liter engine and CVT: 27/34 mpg (city/highway)
- Nissan Sentra SE-R with 2.5-liter engine and CVT: 24/30 mpg (city/highway)
SafetyStandard safety features of note on the 2012 Nissan Sentra include side-impact curtain air bags, active head restraints, and front seat belts with pre-tensioners. In government crash tests, the 2012 Nissan Sentra received an overall rating of 4 (out of 5) stars, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). In tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Sentra received a "Good" rating-the Institute's highest-for frontal-offset and "Acceptable" for side-impact crash protection. Roof strength results from the Institute were also "Acceptable."
