Introduction
Equipped with 3 rows of seats and able to carry up to 7 people, the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder is a family-sized crossover SUV. It competes against a number of models including the Chevrolet Traverse, Dodge Durango, Ford Expedition, GMC Acadia, Honda Pilot, Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento, Mazda CX-9, and Toyota Highlander.

Models and Features
Nissan sells the 2015 Pathfinder in S, SV, SL, and Platinum trim levels. A Pathfinder Hybrid was offered for the 2014 model year but Nissan has not announced whether it will continue for 2015.

Upgrading to the Pathfinder SV adds Bluetooth connectivity, reversing camera, 7-in. color information display, and passive keyless entry with push-button engine starting. The driver sits on an 8-way power-adjustable seat, enjoying satellite radio, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a programmable universal remote control. Automatic headlights, fog lights, and rear park-assist sensors are also standard for the Pathfinder SV.

Leather upholstery is standard for the Pathfinder SL, as well as a power front passenger's seat, remote engine starting, and a power rear liftgate. This version of the Pathfinder also gets a blind-spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alert technology.

The Pathfinder Platinum represents the top of the line, identified by larger 20-in. aluminum wheels. It has a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, dual-panel panoramic sunroof, premium audio system, navigation system, Around View Monitor system, and a towing package as standard equipment.

Under the Hood
A 3.5-liter V-6 engine is standard in the 2015 Pathfinder, generating 260 horsepower that is fed to the crossover SUV's front wheels through a continuously variable transmission (CVT). A 3-mode all-wheel-drive (AWD) system featuring 2WD, Automatic, and AWD Lock settings is offered as an option. Maximum towing capacity is 5,000 lbs.

Fuel Economy
According to the EPA, the 2015 Pathfinder is expected to return between 19 mpg in the city with the AWD system and 27 mpg on the highway with standard front-wheel drive.

Safety and Technology
For 2015, Nissan improves the Pathfinder in the areas of safety and technology.

First, the SUV is officially a "Top Safety Pick," according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), which fully rates the Pathfinder for the first time since its 2013 redesign.

Second, Nissan has added a blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert to the Pathfinder SL and Platinum. Previously, this technology was not available for the Pathfinder.

Third, a new rear-seat entertainment system debuts, one equipping both front head restraints with viewing screens for second-row passengers to enjoy.

These upgrades are added to a list that already included a reversing camera, rear park-assist sensors, automatic headlights that also illuminate when the wipers are used during a rainstorm, an Around View Monitor system, and a premium audio system.

Nissan Easy Fill Tire Alert technology is standard for the 2015 Pathfinder, chirping the horn when proper tire pressure is reached in order to make it easier for owners to maintain good tire health.
