Introduction
Long considered a style leader for Nissan, the Murano is redesigned for 2015. Nissan says that the new Murano introduces several design cues that are expected to define future models from the automaker. This 5-passenger, midsize crossover SUV competes primarily against the Ford Edge, GMC Terrain, Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Kia Sorento, and Subaru Outback.

Models and Features
Four versions of the 2015 Murano are available: S, SV, SL, and Platinum. Upgrading to the Murano SV adds an 8-in. color touch-screen infotainment system with navigation, voice-recognition technology, HD Radio, USB connection ports in the rear seat, and more.

The SV also comes with an 8-way power driver's seat with lumbar support, 4-way power front passenger's seat, remote engine starting, intelligent climate control system, speed-sensing windshield wipers, and leather wrapped around the steering wheel and shift knob. Visual cues include fog lights and roof rails.

Choose the Murano SL for leather upholstery, heated front seats, heated outside mirrors, and memory for the driver's preferences. This version of the Murano also has a premium audio system, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a programmable garage door opener, ambient cabin lighting, and a power tailgate. Safety features include a blind-spot monitoring system, rear cross-traffic detection system, and Nissan's AroundView 360-degree monitoring system with moving-object detection.

The Murano Platinum adds 20-in. aluminum wheels and LED headlights as well as ventilated front seats, heated rear seats with power-return seat backs, and a heated, power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel with memory.

Under the Hood
Every version of the 2015 Murano is equipped with a 260-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 engine. A next-generation continuously variable transmission (CVT) is new for the Murano, designed to improve both acceleration and fuel economy, Nissan says. Front-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive (AWD) available as an option.

Fuel Economy
No matter which version of the 2015 Murano buyers select--whether it has the optional AWD system or not--the EPA expects this SUV to return 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.

Safety and Technology
An advanced drive-assist display is standard equipment for all Muranos, a 7-in. screen nestled between the SUV's primary gauges. A dual-zone automatic climate control system helps to keep everyone comfortable. Nissan's Easy Fill Tire Alert technology is also standard, making it easy for owners to identify low tire pressure and to fill a tire to the proper inflation.

NissanConnect Bluetooth connectivity is standard for all trim levels and includes streaming-audio capability, text-messaging support, and Mobile Apps access. The Murano SV, SL, and Platinum come with an 8-in. touch-screen infotainment system that supports swipe, tap, spread, and pinch gesture control.

Safety upgrades include a blind-spot monitor, AroundView monitor with 360-degree moving-object detection, and an intelligent cruise control system with predictive forward-collision warning and forward emergency braking. With predictive forward-collision warning, the Murano can "see" two cars ahead and identify situations that might require emergency braking before the driver can.
