Exterior Features
The 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK is a 2-door convertible with a power-retractable hardtop that is offered in two trim levels. Seventeen-inch wheels are standard on the base SLK250, while the top-of-the-line SLK350 is fitted with 18-inch wheels.

Interior Features
The 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK seats 2 passengers and provides 10.1 cubic feet of trunk space with the roof up and 6.4 cubic feet with the roof retracted into the trunk. Base SLK250 models feature cruise control, automatic climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, power seats, and vinyl upholstery, while the upgraded SLK350 features leather upholstery.

Optional Features
Mercedes-Benz offers a variety of option packages for the SLK-Class, as well as a range of stand-alone options. The Premium 1 package features a Harman Kardon surround-sound audio system with satellite radio, and heated seats. The Sport package adds an AMG body-styling kit, 18-inch AMG wheels, and Solar Red ambient cabin lighting, while the Multimedia package includes a navigation system with voice control. Notable stand-alone options include a panoramic glass roof with Magic Sky Control that changes its transparency, a wind deflector, and upgraded leather.

Under the Hood
The rear-wheel-drive SLK-Class is powered by two different engines. Base SLK250 models are equipped with a turbocharged, 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine rated at 201 horsepower, and SLK350 models are fitted with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine rated at 302 horsepower. Although base models come standard with a 6-speed manual transmission, a 7-speed automatic is optional. An automatic transmission is standard equipment on SLK350 models.

Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK350 with V-6 engine are 20/29/23 mpg (city/highway/combined).

Safety
Standard safety features on the SLK-Class include roll bars, dual knee air bags, side air bags that cover the head and abdomen, and active head restraints.

To date, neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) have tested the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class.
