The 2013 Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG is a performance-tuned, 5-passenger SUV. An AMG body styling kit, silver-painted brake calipers, quad polished exhaust outlets, and lightweight 20-inch AMG aluminum wheels separate the top-of-the-line M-Class model from other versions of the SUV.
Standard equipment includes bi-xenon headlights with Active Curve Illumination and Adaptive High-beam Assist, headlight washers, LED running lights, and LED taillights. The ML63 AMG also comes standard with a power liftgate, aluminum roof rack rails, and power-folding exterior mirrors with auto-dimming glass.Interior Features
The 2013 Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG is equipped with AMG sports seats, premium leather upholstery, illuminated AMG doorsill plates, stainless steel AMG sport pedals, AMG instrumentation, and a flat-bottomed AMG performance steering wheel.
Additional standard equipment includes dual-zone automatic climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, and a memory package for the front seats, exterior mirrors, and a power tilt/telescoping steering column. Keyless Go passive entry with push-button ignition is also standard, along with a power sunroof, ambient cabin lighting, universal garage door opener, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a 115-volt power outlet.
The standard COMAND infotainment system includes Bluetooth connectivity and music streaming capability, voice-controlled navigation system, satellite radio, HD Radio, USB port, auxiliary audio input jack, 10GB hard-drive music register, and Mbrace 2 telematics. The ML63 AMG also includes front and rear park-assist sensors with parking guidance, surround-view camera system, blind-spot monitoring system, and a lane-keeping assist system.Optional Features
The 2013 Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG can be equipped with a Driver Assistance package (active blind-spot monitoring and active lane-keeping assist, Distronic Plus active cruise control with Pre-Safe Brake), and an AMG Performance package (red-painted brake calipers, extra horsepower and torque, 174-mph top speed, Dinamica trim for steering wheel, carbon fiber engine cover).
Additional options include a panoramic sunroof, soft-closing doors, heated rear seats, dual-screen rear-seat entertainment system, and a Bang & Olufsen BeoSound premium surround-sound audio system.
Multi-contour massaging front seats are also optional, as well as a wood/leather steering wheel, black Dinamica headliner, black piano lacquer interior trim, brushed aluminum running boards, and a set of lightweight 21-inch AMG wheels. Mercedes also supplies an optional trailer hitch for the ML63 AMG, allowing the SUV to tow up to 7,200 pounds.Under the Hood
The 2013 Mercedes ML63 AMG is equipped with a hand-built, twin-turbocharged, 5.5-liter V-8 engine generating 550 horsepower between 5,250 rpm and 5,750 rpm, and 560 lb.-ft. of torque from 2,000 rpm to 5,000 rpm. The optional AMG Performance package adds 32 horsepower and 44 lb.-ft. of torque while increasing the ML63 AMG's top speed from 155 mph to 174 mph, according to Mercedes.
A 7-speed AMG SpeedShift Plus transmission equipped with shifter paddles and Controlled Efficiency, Sport, and Manual driving modes is paired with a 4Matic all-wheel-drive system. Standard automatic stop/start technology is active when the transmission is operated in Controlled Efficiency mode, and is designed to conserve fuel while the ML63 AMG is sitting still in traffic or at an intersection.
Additional mechanical upgrades for the ML63 AMG include an AMG Ride Control sport suspension with Comfort and Sport settings, Active Curve System providing roll stabilization in corners, AMG sport exhaust system, AMG high-performance braking system, AMG sports steering, and a 2-mode stability control system.
Mercedes says the ML63 AMG will accelerate to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds.Fuel Economy

The 2013 Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG is equipped with 9 air bags, including a knee air bag for the driver and side-impact air bags for rear-seat occupants. Traction control, a stability control system that includes trailer stability control and crosswind stabilization, and 4-wheel ventilated disc brakes are also standard, the latter safety feature including brake assist, predictive brake priming, and automatic brake drying.
Individual tire-pressure monitoring, rain-sensing wipers, and a reversing camera are also included on every ML63 AMG, along with Attention Assist drowsy driver detection and Pre-Safe technology. Pre-Safe determines when a collision cannot be avoided, and prepares the cabin and its occupants for impact. Blind-spot monitoring and lane-keeping assist systems are also standard on the ML63 AMG, as well as front and rear park-assist sensors and a surround-view camera system.
For 2013, Mercedes introduces new Collision Prevention Assist technology, which is standard on every M-Class model. Collision Prevention Assist identifies when the M-Class is closing too rapidly on vehicles or stationary objects ahead, and automatically engages the standard Adaptive Brake Assist system, which subsequently supplies maximum braking power the moment the driver touches the brake pedal.
Safety-related options for the ML63 AMG include a Driver Assistance package equipped with active blind-spot monitoring, active lane-keeping assist, and Distronic Plus active cruise control with Pre-Safe Brake.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has not performed crash tests on the 2013 Mercedes-Benz M-Class. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) calls the 2013 Mercedes-Benz M-Class a "Top Safety Pick."
