The largest Mercedes-Benz model in the lineup, the GL-Class is a 7-passenger, full-size sport utility vehicle that receives a slight facelift for 2010. In addition to a freshened front fascia and lights, there are new alloy wheels and enhanced safety equipment across the model range.

The GL-Class is Mercedes-Benz's large crossover SUV: a 7-passenger luxury vehicle available with gasoline or diesel power. Introduced in 2006, it's a front-engine, 4-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle that competes with the Audi Q7, Land Rover Range Rover, and the Lincoln Navigator, among others.
Three models of the 2010 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class are available, each with a different engine. The standard GL350 Bluetec features a diesel-powered V-6 engine, 20-inch wheels, sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear air conditioner controls, a full menu of power accessories, heated front seats, vinyl upholstery, COMAND electronics interface, hard-drive-based navigation system, Bluetooth connection, and an 8-speaker sound system. The GL450 upgrades to 19-inch wheels and a V-8 engine; the GL550 has a more powerful V-8 engine, 21-inch wheels with performance tires and design enhancements inside and out, and adds running boards, ventilated front seats, and other features that are optional on the lower trims. Option packages can add a power tailgate and mirrors, rearview camera, hard-drive-based navigation system, premium Harman Kardon surround-sound system, leather upholstery, comfort headrests, and enhanced lighting. Maximum cargo capacity is 83.3 cubic feet, according to Mercedes. When properly equipped, the 2010 Mercedes-Benz GL-class can tow up to 7500 pounds, the automaker says.
The 2010 Mercedes-Benz GL350 Bluetec employs a 210-horsepower, 3.0-liter V-6 diesel engine that's legal in all 50 states. It produces 400 lb.-ft. of torque, and delivers 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA. The GL450's 335-horsepower, 4.7-liter V-8 engine runs on gasoline and delivers 13 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway. The GL550 features a 382-horsepower, 5.5-liter V-8 engine that makes 391 lb. ft. of torque and delivers 12 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway. All 2010 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class models use a 7-speed automatic transmission.
Standard safety features on the 2010 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class include anti-lock brakes with brake assist, stability control, front and rear side air bags, side curtain air bags, driver's-side knee air bag, and the TeleAid emergency communications system, with other standard and optional features.
Starting MSRPs for the 2010 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class ranged from $59,950 for the GL350 to $82,850 for the GL550.
